Care instructions

Our garments and accessories have been created using the finest natural fabrics and intricately embroidered by our master craftsmen.

We use primarily bamboo fibres, cotton, linen, ramie and silk. Fabric content is mentioned with the information about the products on this website (see individual products). They have been pre-washed so shrinkage should not occur.

Where natural dyes have been used this will also be mentioned and please note that natural dyes have a tendency to bleed during the first two to three washes.

Please look after them with care in order to keep them looking their best for as long as possible and take especial care when handling potentially sharp objects such as jewellery.

Due to the handcrafted nature of our products you may find small variations and irregularities in the fabric and stitching which are integral to them and not defects.

We are trying to avoid the use of dry cleaning due to the environmental impact of much of it and so we recommend washing garments. Please wash them apart from other items using gentle washing products (no harsh chemicals). Handwashing is ideal but machine washing on a gentle programme is also suitable, preferably in cold or tepid water and not higher than 30 degrees. Cotton organdie will soften with washing. Garments should be dried in the open air (not in a tumble dryer) away from sunlight. They can be ironed but a low heat is recommended for silk items.

For silk crepe de Chine items (some scarves and gowns) and for cushions, dry-cleaning is advised, as it is for other items with serious stains where a low-temperature wash won’t suffice.

If cared for this way your garments should last well and we hope you will enjoy many years of wearing them and/or living with them.
